In the spirit of encouraging respect and interpersonal kindness, we have ratified a set of community standards that apply to all of our events, meetings, and interactions. Happy 2021, everyone!
These standards apply in all official DRAC spaces, including our meetings, DRAC Support Space chat thread, Facebook page, forum, and all other interactions between members. Online, the social media committee may delete posts that do not abide by these standards. Whether online or in person, members who repeatedly violate community standards will be asked to leave the group.
Treat others with respect and dignity. Do not engage in ‘put-downs’ or personal attacks. If someone does say something disrespectful, aggressive, or inappropriate, do not engage – report them and move on.
Consider how much space you’re taking, and consider when to step in and step back.
Check in with others about their capacity before making a request for emotional or physical labor.
Take care of yourself first so that you can be available to support others when they need it. You have to put your own oxygen mask on first.
Get consent before giving advice or challenging someone else.
Keep comments on topic and constructive.
Take personal responsibility and acknowledge when mistakes have been made. Own your own mistakes and use “I” statements when apologizing.
Be respectful of others’ lived experiences. Discrimination on the basis of disability, race, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality will not be tolerated.
We do not support specific political parties or candidates in any formal group spaces. We are not affiliated with any political party and cannot express support for any political party or candidate in official group spaces.
We are non-denominational and welcome individuals from a broad range of religious and non-religious backgrounds. Derogatory comments about a religion or an individual’s religious practices will not be tolerated.
